Tauscher's dad is proud of son's success

AUBURNDALE (WAOW)--Auburndale native Mark Tauscher will not be playing in the Super Bowl but his family still plans to head to Texas to cheer on his Packers.

Number 65's dad, Denny Tauscher says he hasn't missed a Packer home game in 11 years. Tauscher watched his son win two Rose Bowls while playing for the University of Wisconsin Badgers. Tauscher says he remembers when his son played against the Giants in 2007 season's NFC Championship. That was the last time Mark Tauscher had a chance at the Super Bowl.

Tauscher says, "You go from that tremendously bitter disappointment, to the joy of it happening now it's hard to describe but the feeling is there it's a great feeling."

Tauscher says he's watched his son grow as an athlete over the years. From playing on Auburndale's gridiron to being apart of an Apaches state basketball title.

"It's been a thrill, it really has. Every year it seems something bigger and better happens but obviously the Super Bowl is pretty much the pinnacle that you could reach," said Tauscher.

But Tauscher says even though his son is a gifted athlete, he never imagined his son would play for the team his family grew up watching.

"You would have to be pretty naive to think when your in grade school and high school and your looking at a kid thinking this kid can play NFL ball," said Tauscher.

Tauscher says Mark will be on the sideline during the Super Bowl. He says Mark called him before he ended up on the injured reserve and told him not once was he doubtful of his team heading to the Super Bowl or in bad spirits.
