BIRNAMWOOD (WAOW)--Family members are still in shock after Wednesday's fatal accident that killed Daisy Parker and her son, Dean Knudsen.

The two were hit by an SUV while trying to cross highway 29 in their vehicle. Daisy's husband James Parker is distraught.

When he got the call that there had been an accident, he hoped for the best. However, on the way to the hospital, he saw the scene and feared the worst.

"It was a twisted, hardy recognizable pile of metal and my heart dropped. I thought, how could anybody survive that?"

The four people in the SUV were taken to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. James and Dean's biological father Mark Knudsen were left to mourn the loss of two beloved family members.

"We had a blast. he was so much fun to be around," said Knudsen of his son.

The two worked together at the Arby's in Antigo. He said his son had big plans, including joining the Marines and becoming a computer game programmer.

"He had a plan...and I don't know if I can live his dream for him," said Knudsen.

Meanwhile, Parker is mourning the loss of the wife he called "his rock."

"She'd want me to go on and live my life so, to honor her, that's what I gotta do," he said.
