Can being a Packer fan be the difference between life and death? Nearly 16 years ago, Newsline 9 brought you Frank Emmert's story. Emmert is a die-hard Packer fan who had a brush with death one November Sunday in 1995.
Emmert was flying back to Superior from Cleveland after a game, using his Cheesehead as a pillow. Suddenly, the plane lost power at about 900-feet and crashed. He suffered a crushed and broken right ankle, a severely lacerated right arm and some deep cuts on his left arm.
But before the plane went down, he grabbed his Cheesehead and padded his face before impact; he credits the foam-rubber cheddar with keeping his spirited smile intact.
Coming up tonight on Newsline 9 at 6, we catch up with Emmert as he cheers on the Green Bay Packers from Arlington, Texas.
