WAUSAU (WAOW) -- When Bobbie Nowak lost his job, his wife, Tara, turned on the oven.
"Something I've always loved and I've always done for others is baking. That's what I do to show people I care about them and I love them," said Tara.
The Nowak's and their four daughters had made a home in Wausau and didn't want to leave. They decided to use Tara's talent to bake themselves into the community.
"It started in the third week of the farmers' market that we were usually sold out in the first 90 minutes. Completely sold out of 12 dozen or more cupcakes and taking orders and requests for what we had last week," she said.
Sweet Lola's on 3rd opened just a few months later. And, with the frosting and sprinkles, the delicious decorations, it's getting rave reviews.
Satisfying a sweet tooth isn't difficult here. From margarita to red velvet, Lola's features new flavors each month and the cupcakes are baked fresh each day.
"I like it to be a little more dramatic. A little bit of swirls and different garnishments and sprinkles."
Tara says the secret to her cupcakes are quality ingredients. And, the ingredient making her life and shop a success is one she's always believed in.
"You have to do something that you're passionate about and that you love."
