Wisconsin Guard troops overseas watch Packers win

SUPERIOR (AP) -- Wisconsin Guard troops serving overseas were able to watch the Green Bay Packers win the Super Bowl via the Armed Forces Network. The broadcast was beamed by satellite to viewers and listeners in 175 countries and on board Navy ships at sea.

Wisconsin commanders dressed in Packer gear and hosted cookouts for the troops. McArthur Towels of Baraboo sent the 724th Engineer Battalion soldiers in Balad, Iraq a supply of "Title Town Towels" to help cheer on their team.

About 1,000 Wisconsin Guard soldiers are on active duty.

Armed Forces Network and Armed Forces Radio has been delivering the Super Bowl live to service members, civilian staff and families overseas since the first game was played Jan. 15, 1967.
