(WAOW) - The high school hockey tournament brackets were released Sunday night

and, no surprise, Wausau West grabbed a number one seed and first round bye.

The Warriors are ranked second in the state and will face the winner of Antigo and Lakeland in the second round.

With last year's season ending one win shy of a state title, the Warriors say having a number one seed will give them a good start in their attempt to get back to Madison.

The Warriors also took to the ice Monday night to face Merrill at Marathon Park. The Warriors beat the Blue Jays for the second time in two weeks, 10-1.

The Central Wisconsin Storm took on Lakeland and had little trouble cruising to the win, 10-0.

On the hardwood, Edgar and Abbotsford squared off in a non-conference matchup and the Wildcats pull away for an 87-75 win.
