Wisconsin Board of Veterans Affairs statement

MADISON (PRESS RELEASE)--Wisconsin Board of Veterans Affairs Chair Dan Naylor commended the Legislative Audit Bureau (LAB) and the Legislature's Joint Committee on Audit on the release this morning of LAB's extensive final audit report of the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) operations of the Wisconsin Veterans Homes at Union Grove and King.

"This audit is the direct result of a comprehensive request originally submitted by the Board of Veterans Affairs to the Joint Committee on Audit in September 2009," stated Mr. Naylor.  "We are grateful for the unanimous bipartisan support of the members of Joint Audit in October 2009 who directed an LAB audit of the operations of Wisconsin's two veterans homes; and for the diligent efforts of the non-partisan Legislative Audit Bureau leading up to the release of its final report this morning."

The Board of Veterans Affairs will work closely with Sen. Rob Cowles and Rep. Samantha Kirkman, the Senate and Assembly Co-Chairs of Joint Audit, respectively, and the Legislative Audit Bureau to schedule, at the earliest possible time, a public briefing for the Board of the audit report's findings and recommendations.

The Board will be thoroughly reviewing LAB's audit report once the Board completes its two days of  regular Board meetings scheduled for tomorrow and Friday and will announce the date and time of LAB's briefing for the Board as soon as arrangements are made.
