Badger hockey swept by Nebraska-Omaha after 4-3 final Saturday
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) -- Matt Ambroz scored two goals and Nebraska-Omaha withstood a series of late penalties and Wisconsin power plays to beat the Badgers 4-3 on Saturday.
Ambroz's second goal, at 3:55 of the third period, proved to be the game-winner. It staked the Mavericks (18-10-2, 14-6-2) to a 4-1 lead. Goalie John Faulkner made 12 of his 27 saves in the third period.
Jordy Murray and Craig Smith scored late power-play goals as Wisconsin (19-10-3, 11-9-2) closed to within a goal at 16:20 of the third period.
Brock Monpetit and Alex Hudson also scored for Nebraska-Omaha.
The win marks Nebraska-Omaha's first sweep of the Badgers. The Mavericks came into the weekend 0-5-0 all-time against Wisconsin.
Scott Gudmandson made 22 saves for the Badgers.
