James E. Laszewski


James E. Laszewski, a man who filled this world with love, James Edward Laszewski, age 76, passed away peacefully February 11, 2011 with his family by his side. Born on March 12, 1934, Jim was a self designated "last of the old timers" who worked as a lumberjack throughout his younger years and went on to run a successful electrical contracting business, M&S Electric. Jim was born to the late Anton and Hattie Laszewski and grew up on the north side of Stevens Point and was the youngest of twelve children. He married his beautiful wife Jan Bloedorn in 1961 and they had four children. In the early 80's he chronicled his life in a book named Second Education, and went on to share his fishing escapades in another book called Big Fish. Known for his giving heart, deep conversations, bursts of Polish, sparkling blue eyes and his love of the land, Jim taught those around him to love one another.

He is survived by his wife Jan Laszewski (Bloedorn) of Appleton, and his children Leanne Doyle of Fond du Lac, WI., Jay (Stacy) Laszewski of Sydney, Australia, Tony (Shelly) Laszewski of Germantown, WI., and Lisa (Stephen) Cruz of Appleton, WI. His eleven grandchildren Kelleigh Doyle, Brynn Doyle, Shannon Doyle, Abby Laszewski, Nathan Laszewski, Emma Laszewski, Kayla Laszewski, Madelyn Laszewski, Manny Cruz, Ethan Cruz, Jack Cruz and his future twelfth grandchild expected very soon. He is further survived by his two brothers Rev. Richard Laszewski of California and Stanley Laszewski of Wausau, and one sister Velma Laszewski of Milwaukee. His brothers and sister in laws, Diane (Paul) Marchol of California, Robert (Jane) Bloedorn of Minnesota, Ellis Bloedorn of WI. and Eldon Bloedorn of California. Jim was preceded in death by four brothers, Henry, Ambrose (Buddy), Joseph and Anton Jr., and four sisters Catherine Barnesdale, Eleanor Giddinger, Alice Mason and Theresa Morrison.

The family would like extend a special thank you to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton to its entire staff, spiritual service providers and the doctors for their love, compassion and grace on Jim's journey. A celebration of life will be held at 5:00 PM Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home. Family and friends may call from 2:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home until the time for service.
