Phyllis Gaska, age 92, died Saturday Feb. 12, 2011 at the Point Manor in Whiting, where she had been residing since 2002. She was born on Jan. 16, 1919 in Rothschild, WI. Daughter of the late Theodore and Bernice Gaska. She graduated from Wausau High School in 1936. Phyllis worker for Lund's Floral before beginning her life long career as housekeeper for Rev. Thaddeus Szczerbicki in 1942 until his death in 2002. Parishes were Phyllis lived and worked were St. Joseph's in Galloway, 6 years, Sacred Heart in Cassel for 11 years, St. Mary of Mount Carmel in Fancher for 15 years and Sacred Heart of Jesus in Polonia for 4 years. After Rev. Szczerbicki's retirement from active Priesthood, Phyllis continued working for him in Stevens Point until his death in 2002. Phyllis also volunteered her time at the St. Michael's hospital gift shop for many years.
Phyllis loved being up North at her cottage, growing flowers, golfing, snowmobiling, collecting cruets and Hummel's and in later years playing cards and bingo. Phyllis was a loving aunt and will be missed greatly by her nieces and nephews.
Phyllis is survived by her Brother, John Gaska of Wausau and her Sister Leona Bowman of Baltimore, Maryland and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 4 Brothers: Sigmund, Walter, Leo & Joseph and 2 Sisters Mary Miller & Helen Schymanski.

Funeral Mass 11:00 AM Wednesday at St. Mark Catholic Church in Rothschild, Rev. Allan Slowiak will Officiate. Burial in St. Michael Cemetery in Wausau. Visitation from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home in Stevens Point and from 10:00 AM until the time of services Wednesday morning at the Church.
