STEVENS POINT (WAOW)-- In Stevens Point, voters have approved a referendum allowing the city to borrow almost $6 million to revitalize the city's mall. With 11 of 11 districts reporting: 2,597 yes, 1,925 no. Mayor Andrew Halverson has spoken out in favor of the plan. He tells Newsline 9 he believes voting yes for the mall now will help kick start the economy and attract more people to downtown. Some opponents of the referendum say the government shouldn't be buying public property and the price is too high.
