Adams County: Five suspects arrested in kidnapping, assault

ADAMS COUNTY (PRESS RELEASE) -- The Adams County Sheriff's Department had taken five individuals into custody related to the kidnapping and assault of a 20-year-old Friendship man.

The victim reported that in the early morning hours of February 18, 2011 he had been taken to a residence in the Adams County Township of New Chester near the unincorporated town of Grand Marsh where he was repeatedly physically assaulted. The victim received injuries from the assault including numerous bruises and lacerations.

The alleged perpetrators reportedly also brought the victim's female friend to the residence and forced her to watch as they continue their assault. She was not physically harmed in this incident. Both of the victims were released on February 19, 2011 in the early evening hours and were able to contact law enforcement. The victim was later treated and released from the hospital.

Three of the suspects involved are currently being held in the Adams County Jail following a bail hearing. Justin Ball, 27, from Grand Marsh along with Constance Heintz, 21, also from Grand Marsh, are both being held on $100,000 cash bail. Jason Akkerman, 27, from Grand Marsh is being held on $50,000 cash bail.

Investigators will be requesting felony charges with the Adams County District Attorney's office including Reckless Injury and Kidnapping against those involved.
