(WAOW) - For the state's high school wrestlers, Saturday was a day each one of them dreams about, but not everyone gets to wrestle for a state title.
From central Wisconsin, though, 13 of the area's best made their way to the final match. All three divisions held their championships Saturday night.
The division one, 285 pound title match pitted two familiar foes against each other. Wausau West's Evan Knutson and Wisconsin Rapids' Curt Fuller met for the fourth time this season, this time with a state championship on the line.
Knutson got on the board first with a second period escape, but Fuller returned the favor with an escape in the third period to send the match to overtime.
This one goes all the way into triple overtime, and in the final 20 seconds, Fuller gets an escape and a takedown to bring home the win, 4-1.
At 160 pounds, Marshfield's Brad Dolezal was gunning for his second straight state title and third overall.
He took a 4-0 lead with a first period nearfall and added a reversal in the third to roll to a 7-0 win. He was the 140 champion as a freshman, won the 145 title as a junior and now has a 160 championship to add to his collection.
Rapids' Zak Benitz got a key takedown in the first period of his 152 pound match to come away with a 4-3 win over Matthew Gray.
