Chester "Chet" J. Golomski


Chester "Chet" J. Golomski, 88, Wausau, died Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Our House Assisted Living, Wausau.

He was born October 20, 1922 in Rosholt, son of the late John and Mary (Klemen) Golomski. On May 30, 1952, he married Valeria Lenard in Virginia She preceded him in death on April 21, 2002.

Chester was a Master Sergeant with the United States Air force for 20 years. Following his military career, he worked for the former James River Corp., Wausau, until his retirement. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Burns Post No. 388, Wausau and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Among his favorite pastimes, he enjoyed playing cards, both wood carving and woodworking, fishing, hunting, spending time up at the family cottage in Harrison Hills and he loved music. Chester was also an avid bowler and enjoyed playing on the Knights of Columbus bowling league. One of the many things that will be remembered about Chester was his ability to connect with others with a good hand shake.

Survivors include, three children, Mary (Robert) Steif, Wausau, Richard Golomski, Madison and Mark (Gail) Golomski, Rhinelander; eight grandchildren, Richard (Autumn) Steif, Kaukauna, Craig (Shannon) Steif, Appleton, Jennifer (Daniel) Krall, Wausau, Karla Steif, Wausau, Adam (Jessica) Golomski, Oregon, Aymee Golomski, Oregon, Scott (Brooke) Golomski, Franklin and David Golomski, Rhinelander; and one great granddaughter, Annessa Steif.

Besides his parents and wife, Valeria, he was preceded in death by one brother, Frank Golomski; and two sisters, Regina Heisler and Esther Wunsch.

The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011 at The Church of St. Anne, Wausau. Rev. Steven Brice will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church.

Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau is in charge of arrangements.
