A Portage County man heads to prison after a standoff with police last fall. A judge sentenced 21 year old Jaredt Simonis to 5 years behind bars and 5 on extended supervision.
On October 5th of 2010 police went to Simonis' house to serve an arrest warrant. When they arrived Simonis reportedly fled to the basement to get a gun. Officers surrounded the home and say Simonis raised a rifle in the direction of officers so a deputy shot and wounded the suspect.
