Lincoln County man rescued after diabetic reaction

LINCOLN COUNTY (WAOW)--A late night rescue saves a 43-year-old man who suffered a diabetic reaction. The man's eleven-year-old daughter called 9-1-1 Sunday night when her father collapsed on a trail off of Spile Dam Road in the Town of Pine River.

He met her there to try and repair her broken-down ATV. Emergency Crews from Merrill, Pine River fire and first responders, and state patrol responded to the scene.

A MedEvac helicopter was dispatched to find the two on the trail.

"They requested the MedEvac helicopter which has the night vision and were able to get her to find a flashlight and she used that (to signal the helicopter). There was good coordination between dispatch and the girl there," said Lincoln County 9-1-1 Administrator Mark Handlin.

EMS and firefighters rode in a six-wheeled rescue vehicle that was guided by the helicopter to the scene.

The two were taken to Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center for treatment. Authorities say both are in stable condition.
