Rep. Seidel Statement on restricted Capitol access
MADISON (PRESS RELEASE)--Representative Donna Seidel (D – Wausau) released the following statement
"Our citizens enjoy a Constitutional right to petition their government. Over the course of the two weeks, we have witnessed an unprecedented restriction on this fundamental right. In order for our democracy to operate as we all expect and as our Founding Fathers envisioned, our government must be subject to the scrutiny and oversight of the public. The Walker Administration and Republican leadership have abruptly ended public hearings, prevented elected officials from voting, blocked internet sites, disconnected legislative hotlines for constituents, created a police state and even kicked citizens out of the "People's House" simply because public opinion is decidedly against them. This endless system of roadblocks and bureaucracy is specifically designed to make it next to impossible for everyday citizens to be engaged in the affairs of their government. I remain committed to open government and the rule of law, and I will do everything in my power to ensure the voice of the public continues to be heard."
