WAUSAU (WAOW)--Many people are watching what's going on in Madison across the nation and here at home. We gathered a group of locals to watch Governor Scott Walker's Budget Address live.
People we spoke with said they weren't surprised by any of the Governor's remarks. Roxane Hagedorn said she was looking for more concrete numbers and specific details regarding the budget and impending cuts.
Immediately following the address, Wausau resident Jim Rosenberg said, "Governor walker keeps harkening back to the budget repair bill in which he destroys collective bargaining and then calls those tools for local governments to use... it's certainly true that it would be very difficult for school districts, counties, municipalities to work through these cuts."
Sue Shore supports the Governor and was impressed with his address. "I thought his talk was very good, very definite, from the heart, and this guy will work endlessly to do what he thinks is right," she said.
People we talked to agreed it will be interesting to see how the debate surrounding the budget repair bill plays out, since that's what this budget plan hinges on.
