ROTHSCHILD (WAOW) -- Tuesday was the last opportunity for people to speak up for or against the proposed biomass plant in Rothschild. People who showed up said just because it was the last meeting, doesn't mean the biomass plant is a done deal.
The meeting started around 4PM, when representatives from the DNR made a presentation outlining specific guidelines the plant would need to abide by, including measures for limiting emissions and particulate matter that gets released into the air. Afterwards, they opened the floor for people in the community to talk.
"It's been over a year long but it has also been one that has been open and has shown all the information and has provided that information to the community," said We Energies Spokesperson Brian Manthey.
People from both sides of the debate spoke at the meeting. On one side, people with concerns about health and environmental issues. On the other, some who see the plant as an opportunity for growth in the future of their community.
The DNR will still accept comments from the community over the next few days. You can email them at email@example.com. The DNR plans to make a decision about the plant over the next month or two.
