Sophie T. Wojcik, of Stevens Point, died Tuesday morning March 1, 2011 at the Portage County Health Care Center. Age 91 Sophie was born April 8, 1919 in Stevens Point. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Bogumila (Tworkowski) Czudec. She attended local schools. She had worked at Whiting Plover Paper Mill, Preway and the Nekoosa Paper Mill. Sophie married Chester Wojcik on July 26, 1941 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. After their marriage they settled in Stevens Point, and she has lived at her home address for the past 59 years and raised her family there. He preceded her in death on February 24, 1984. Sophie was a member of St. Peters Rosary Society and directress of Group 3 for 56 years. She was also a member of the Catholic Women's Club, the Mixed Choir and funeral Choir of St. Peters Church.
Sophie loved to garden and can, and always had beautiful flowers around her home. She was always a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and her most precious time was spent with her children, grand and great grandchildren. She loved her time spent with her family and friends and going to church activities. Sophie will be remembered by her loving family and friends for her cheery smile, her caring ways, her quick wit and her willingness to share whatever she had.
She is survived by her three sons, Jerome C. (Loretta) Wojcik of Stevens Point, James J. (Marge) Wojcik of Junction City and Robert E. (Diane) Wojcik of Malone, WI. Twelve grandchildren and twenty three great grandchildren. One sister Dorothy Michelkamp of Wisconsin Rapids and a half brother Edward Tckowski of Stevens Point. She was preceded in death by her husband Chester, four brothers Stanley, Chester, Eugene and John, and two sisters Catherine and Betty and a half sister Josephine Cwiklo.
In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established at a later date.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 AM Saturday March 5, 2011 at St. Peters Catholic Church. Rev. Robert Letona officiating. Burial will be in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home of Stevens Point, and from 9:30 A.M. Saturday at the St. Faustina Room of St. Peters church until the time for mass. The St. Peters Rosary Society will combine with the Parish Rosary at 7:00 PM Friday evening at the funeral home.
