Adolph A. Brillowski, age 90, of Plover, died Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at Ministry St. Michael's Hospital in Stevens Point.
He was born on Nov. 26, 1920, in Stevens Point, to the late Frank and Cecelia (Domaszek) Brillowski. He was a certified journeyman welder in Chicago before entering the service.
Adolph proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II, from 1942 to 1945, as a corporal. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and received numerous medals, including the Bronze Star. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10262 and American Legion Post 543.
On Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, 1944, Adolph married the love of his life, Germaine Lepinski, at St. Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover. She survives.
He worked for 20 years at Preway in Wisconsin Rapids and 18 years at the Biron Division of Consolidated Papers, retiring in 1983.
Adolph loved to garden, dance, play cards, family gatherings and enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He passed on his love of fishing, hunting and the outdoors to his sons and he was an enthusiastic fan of the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers.
Survivors, besides his wife, include his sons, Clyde (Carol) of Plover, Dennis (Donna) of Stevens Point, Wayne (Ann) of Plover, Mark (Jean) of Stevens Point, and LeRoy (Shelley) of Plover; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn Ebel of Polonia, Alice (Ray) Kiewit of Brookfield, and Gladys (Bruno) Mazarka of Stevens Point.
In addition to his parents, Adolph was preceded in death by his infant son, Clifton, and brothers, Emil, Edmund, Victor and Gerald.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful angels at Whispering Pines Assisted Living, the Portage County Healthcare Center (especially the Hillside Meadows Wing staff), Community Care and Ministry St. Michael's Hospital for their compassion and care given to Adolph.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover with the Rev. James Trempe officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in the parish cemetery.
