WAUSAU (WAOW)--An amazing story of survival as Racine police say  a man walking down some railroad tracks was hit by a train -- and survived.

Authorities say the Union Pacific train operator spotted the man walking on the railroad tracks Monday night, blew the whistle and tried to brake.

Police Lt. Carlos Lopez says the 55-year-old Racine man was trying to get off the tracks when he was struck about 7 p.m. Lopez says the man apparently had been drinking.

The Journal Times says the man was taken to Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Hospital with minor injuries.
