WESTON (WAOW)--Weston board members voted four to one Monday night to end the community's bus line.
Village administrator Dean Zuleger says bus service will be discontinued at the end of this calendar year. The decision to end the service comes after reports of low ridership.
He says plans are already in the works to replace the loss. "This morning we already started working on a for-profit fee for service kind of option for folks. We'll be entertaining a proposal from First Student here in Wausau for them to run a fee-for-service shuttle for the community," said Zuleger.
The village budgeted 160,000 for bus service in 2011. The line through the city began in 2006.
It costs one dollar and twenty-five cents for an adult fare.
