Snow needs somewhere to go

WAUSAU (WAOW) - All that snow needs somewhere to go when it piles up on the street. The Wausau Street Superintendent, Don Skare, says the city has three places to take the snow.

Depending on the part of the city the snow falls, it's taken either behind Pine Grove Cemetery, near the old Menards site by the Highway 29/51 interchange or to a plot of land near the VFW on River Drive.

This late in the season, they do less street clean-up because nature tends to take care of melting the snow.

For a big storm like the one expected overnight, the plows will be out and they'll need some room.

Skare says the heavy snow tends to froze or block some of the catch basins along the streets.

If you see that happening, you're asked to call the Public Works Department.
