Wisconsin 2010 census data set to be released

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- The U.S. Census Bureau is set to release Wisconsin's 2010 data, giving the state a glimpse of how its racial makeup and population distributions have changed in the last 10 years.

The census report is scheduled for release Thursday afternoon.  It will include summaries of population totals, as well as data on race, Hispanic origin and voting age.

The information will be broken down to the county, city and school-district levels.

The census bureau released statewide data in December.  Those numbers put the state population at 5.7 million residents, up from 5.4 million in 2000.  Previously available state figures show that the fastest-growing counties by percentage between 2000 and 2008 were St. Croix, Calumet and Juneau counties.  Dane and Waukesha counties had the largest net growth.
