Church treasure misses appearance in Clark County Court
CLARK COUNTY (WAOW) -- He's accused of stealing money from the Neillsville congregation where he kept the books. Now, a judge issues a bench warrant for John Roenz. Roenz, 63, was slated for an arraignment Thursday morning in Clark County, but neither he nor his attorney appeared. Roenz was the treasurer at Calvary Lutheran Church. The staff members says they found checks written for things that were never purchased. They say he admitted taking money-- saying he used it to go out to eat. Because of the statute of limitations some of the allegations will be thrown out.
