STEVENS POINT (WAOW) -- The budget battle has played out in Madison and around the rest of the state.

Portage County Democrats organize a rally in response to the state senate passing the budget repair bill.

Newsline 9 was at the Democratic Headquarters in Stevens Point. Cathy Rhutasel says for her, Wednesday night's events are the final straw. While there, she registered as a Democrat. Rhutasel plans to become more involved.

"I didn't like the way the power grab took place. And I need to be more active to have the voices of people like me heard. I intend to do whatever I can to keep the message out there and be involved," Rhutasel said.

In Wausau one person says he's happy the bill passed through the senate. He hopes it goes through the assembly.

He'd like to see the state balance the budget.
