Chilton cheesemaker wins top prize


GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- A Chilton cheesemaker is the big cheese at the U.S. Cheese Championships held at Lambeau Field.

Katie Hedrich of LaClare Farms Specialties submitted an evalon cheese, which is a goat's milk hard cheese, that scored 99.0695 in the championship round Thursday.

Hedrich says she's only been making cheese since September 2009.

John Griffiths of Sartori Foods in Plymouth was first runner-up with a SarVecchio Parmesan that scored 98.9739.

Holland's Family Cheese Team of Thorp was second runner-up with a Gouda Super entry.

WLUK-TV reports more than 1,600 entries in 76 categories were judged.
