Beloved husband and father, Donald P. Kelly, was born into eternal life on Tuesday, March 9, 2011. Donald was born on October 1, 1939 in Oconomowoc, WI to the late Leo and Vera (Lehman) Kelly. He attended St. Jerome's Catholic School and graduated from Oconomowoc High School in 1959.
Don served in the National Guard and was called to service during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He worked as a warehouse manager and salesman prior to his retirement. Donald was a member of Wausau Elks Lodge #248. He was an avid Packer fan and fisherman.
Donald is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Karen (TeWinkel) Kelly, Weston, WI and daughters Kristin (Michael) Vraney, Weston, WI and Kimberly (Rick) Borchardt, Wausau, WI. His grandchildren brought him great joy. He was a wonderful "Bapa" to Alexandra and William Vraney, and Ashley and Chase Borchardt.
Don is also survived by his father-in-law Merlin Schleunes; sisters-in-law Linda Schleunes, and Jane (Lloyd) Stolzmann; and brother-in-law Mark Schleunes, all of Kiel, WI. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Barbara Buchert and Rosemarie McNamee; mother-in-law Gladys Schleunes and father-in-law Marvin TeWinkel.
The family would like to thank the nurses and therapists at Ministry St. Clare's Hospital and, and Dr. Bart Isaacson for their care during Don's illness. Also a special thank you to the Reverend Larry Treece for his comforting visits.
Funeral service will be on Friday, March 11, at 6:00 p.m. at Peace United Church of Christ, 1530 Grand Avenue, Schofield. The Rev. Larry Treece will officiate. Visitation will be held from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Friday, March 11, at the church. Private family burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Kronenwetter.
