WAUSAU (WAOW) - Across the country flu season is still in effect - including here in Central Wisconsin. Flu season starts in November and generally lasts until April.
An Epidemiologist at the Marathon County Health Department explains it is not uncommon for flu season to continue this late in the year.
Ruth Marx/Marathon County Health Department: "This could be considered a little bit later flu season than we normally have seen, but truthfully many years we have not seen peak activity until February or even into March."
Ruth Marx adds that although this year's flu season was mild - it is not over yet. The County Health Department says it is still not to late to get a flu shot.
