MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The state Building Commission is meeting to consider Gov. Scott Walker's proposal to spend $1.1 billion on projects in Wisconsin over the next two years.
The spending request before the commission on Wednesday is nearly 30 percent less than what was spent in the previous two-year budget.
Projects included for funding include the new Badger Performance Center on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus to house a variety of programs, an education building at University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and $360 million for basic repair and maintenance of state buildings statewide.
Once approved by the Building Commission, the request goes to the Legislature's budget-writing Joint Finance Committee.
