Supreme Court candidates to debate in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- The two candidates for Wisconsin Supreme Court will debate at Marquette University.

Justice David Prosser and Assistant Attorney General JoAnne Kloppenburg are expected to discuss their qualifications, judicial philosophies and the important issues facing the state's highest court during a one-hour debate Monday.

Kloppenburg has been a litigator and prosecutor at the Wisconsin Department of Justice since 1989.  Prosser was appointed to the court in 1998 and elected to a 10-year term in 2001.

The election is April 5.

A panel consisting of journalists and Janine Geske, a law professor and former Wisconsin Supreme Court justice, will question the candidates in Eckstein Hall.
