GERMANY (AP) -- A Berlin zoo official says world-famous polar bear Knut has died.
Knut, 4, died Saturday afternoon while alone in his compound. Officials say the cause is not yet clear.
Knut rose to stardom when he was hand-raised by zoo keepers after his mother rejected him at birth.
When he was brought to the zoo he was so popular that security had to be brought in to control the crowds. His popularity started to fade when he grew older and his fur changed from white to brown.
