STEVENS POINT (Press Release) - UW-Stevens Point women's basketball player Britta Petersen, after being named WIAC Player of the Year and Central Region Player of the Year, can now add All-American to her resume as she was selected to the State Farm Coaches All-American Team.
Petersen was one of ten players across the country chosen for the honor for her outstanding play during the 2010-11 season.
She led the Pointers in both scoring (14.2 points per game) and rebounding (5.2). She also shot 58 percent from the floor (188-324) for the season.
Petersen finished her career with the second most field goals made in Pointer history and as the fourth highest scorer with 1,511 points in her career.
Andrea Flease also received some recognition as she was chosen to the State Farm Coaches Honorable Mention All-America team.
Flease was a key contributor for the Pointers all season as she broke the school-record for assists in a season with 159.
Flease, who averaged 6.7 points per game, led the WIAC in assists and was second in the league in steals.
Her 159 assists compared to just 67 turnovers on the season and Flease finished her career in fourth all time in the Pointer's career assists stat category.
Flease and Petersen helped lead the Pointers to a 27-3 record this past season, including a perfect 16-0 record in the WIAC. They won four WIAC Tournament's in their time with the Pointers and made three Sweet 16 appearances.
