AUBURNDALE, FL (Press Release) - UW-Stevens Point held a 6-5 lead heading into the bottom of the 7th inning but a four run seventh frame by Allegheny College powered the Gators to a 10-6 victory on Monday morning.
Cody Koback scored the Pointers opening run of the game in the first inning, after getting on base with a double and coming around to score on a Justin Jirschele single. The Pointers tacked on three more runs in the top of the third as Koback, Bryan Clark and Kevin Thomas all crossed home plate, sparked by Ryan Iverson's two out triple.
In the fifth, the Pointers again tacked on a pair of runs, as Jirschele and Jordan Rennicke each scored on a Thomas single.
Heading into the seventh, clinging to a one run lead, the Gators scored four runs off reliever Casey Barnes to take a 9-6 advantage. The Gators tacked on another unearned run in the eighth to push their lead to four and secure the victory.
Starter Cam Seidl threw four innings, allowing 11 hits and five runs before giving way to Barnes, who took the loss, throwing three innings, surrendering four runs, all earned.
Cody Koback finished the day 3-for-5 with two runs scored while Thomas and Iverson each drove in a pair of runs.
The Pointers (2-2) return to the field at 11:30 a.m. eastern Tuesday when they take on Grinnell (Iowa) in Auburndale.
