GAGETOWN, Mich. (AP) -- A 17-year-old high school junior is charged with open murder in the death of a 16-year-old who was run over and dragged beneath a car for almost a block following an altercation at a party in Tuscola County's Gagetown.

The Saginaw News reports that Cody Kalis was arraigned Monday. He also is charged with manslaughter with a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated causing death.

The newspaper says he pleaded not guilty. A hearing has been set for April 11.

Kalis of Unionville attends Cass City High School.

Owendale-Gagetown High School freshman Zachary Harp of Caro died Sunday. The incident occurred about 4 a.m.

Defense attorney James Gust said Kalis' family was expected to post his $75,000 bond.

Gagetown is about 100 miles north of Detroit.
