WAUSAU (WAOW)--With the wet weather set to continue, the highway department is preparing for changing conditions.
Crews spent most of the day Tuesday cleaning up the roads, leaving them bare for drivers. Representatives from the highway department say they will send crews out throughout the night as needed.
Even though warmer temperatures kept ice off the roadways, it can still be dangerous to drive.
"The only thing people have to be cognizant of is the fact that since the roads are no longer frozen in places when you get snow like this, it gets really greasy. It's probably worse than when it's cold outside," said Operations Superintendent Dan Raczkowski.
Officials say if you don't have to drive, stay home. Otherwise, take your time and leave a lot of room between your vehicles and others.
