Raymond "Gus" Reinhardt, age 75, Mattoon, died unexpectedly on Monday, March 21, 2011 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born on May 6, 1935 in Milwaukee, the son of the late Henry and Margarete (Molle) Reinhardt. On July 17, 1954, Raymond was united in marriage to Marjorie Inman in Milwaukee. She survives.
Gus and Marjorie worked at the family business, Reinhardt Greenhouse in Milwaukee until 1983 when they purchased the Driftwood Inn, in Mattoon and continue to operate it today. Gus enjoyed the outdoors, including, camping, hunting, fishing and his dogs. He will be remembered for his ability to share a good story and joke.
In addition to his wife, Marjorie, Gus is survived by two children, Debra (Carl) Weisheim, Lakeland, FL and Steve (Ann) Reinhardt, Wauwatosa; seven grandchildren, Dennis (Lisa) Reinhardt, Sam (Becky) Reinhardt, Jeffery Reinhardt, Dawn (Joe) Anderson, Jonathan , Joel and Kristin Weisheim; three great-grandchildren, Mason Weisheim, Cooper Reinhardt, Catania Anderson; daughter-in-law, Sherry Reinhardt, Bowler and a sister Arlene (Carl) DeGeorge, Menomonee Falls. Gus is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Craig.
The Funeral service will be held at 1PM on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Schmidt-Schulta Funeral Home, Birnamwood. The Rev. Dean Bertsch will officiate.
