Leland J.Barke

Leland J.Barke, age 58, Appleton, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 21, 2011 at Appleton Medical Center, after a courageous 8 month battle with leukemia.

He was born on March 31, 1952 in Wausau, the son of the late George and Delores (Schwamer) Barke.

Leland was employed at the Neenah Foundry for 35 years. He enjoyed stock car racing, spending time in the Birnamwood area, but especially enjoyed turkey hunting. Leland also enjoyed the time spent with his family and friends especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters, Mandi (Michael) Bytnar, Green Bay, Rachel (Ryan) Andrekus, Menasha; three grandchildren, Matthew, Mary and Alexander; one brother Dawayne Barke, Birnamwood; one sister, Pamela (Dean) Carlson,Wittenberg and several nieces, nephews and close friends.

In addition to his parents, Leland was preceded in death by a son Travis and a sister-in-law, Linda.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff on the seventh floor at Appleton Medical Center for their tender loving care.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Birnamwood. The Rev. Chuck Fluegel will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery Norrie. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9AM until the time of service at the church.
