MILWAUKEE (AP) -- A 74-year-old man who had been on the run from federal authorities for five years has been arrested in Las Vegas.

The U.S. Marshal's office in Milwaukee said officials were looking for Matthew Williams for a parole violation. He had allegedly kidnapped and robbed a Marquette University student on campus at gunpoint in 2006.

He had been on parole for a 1993 bank robbery.

The office says Williams was using at least 17 aliases, four birthdays and two Social Security numbers. He was allegedly collecting Social Security benefits under his false identification.

Officials say before he fled he allegedly told a probation officer that the marshals would never find him.

He was arrested Tuesday, after investigators say they uncovered an alias he was using in Las Vegas.
