Loretta E. Ostrowski

Loretta E. Ostrowski, 95, formerly of 1241 Fourth Ave. Stevens Point, died Tuesday March 22, 2011 at the Portage County Health Care Center. Born February 16, 1916 in Stevens Point.

Daughter of the late Frank M. & Veronica V. (Hoppa) Zakrzewski. Her marriage to Albert F. Ostrowski took place on November 7, 1938 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Stevens Point. Albert preceded her in death on November 25, 1990.

Loretta was a graduate of St. Peter Grade School and St. Joseph Academy (Class of 1934).

She was a member of St. Peter Rosary Society for 70 years. During that time she served as secretary (4years) Vice-President (1 year) and President (12 years). She also served as leader of Rose 10 of the Society for 40 years.

At St. Peter Parish, Loretta also served on numerous boards and committees including Parish Council & Parent Teacher Association. For over twenty years she headed a voluntary church cleaning crew. She also sang in various church choirs from her youth thru the mid 1990's. The high light of her activities at St. Peter was the assisting for mass preparation for then Cardinal Wojtyla-later Pope Paul II.

She was also a past member of the Catholic Daughters & Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. Loretta was employed during her life at F.W. Woolworth Co., Campbell Dept. Store and St. Peter Catholic School (assistant cook) as well as a poll worker for the City of Stevens Point.

She is survived by her son, Robert F. (Margaret) Ostrowski of Stevens Point, son in law Charles Keen of Chelmsford, MA., as well as seven grandchildren, Mark (Amy) Ostrowski, Paul (Jenny) Ostrowski, Thomas Ostrowski, James (Laura) Ostrowski, Daniel Ostrowski, Wendy Keen, Martha (Michael) McNally and eight great grandchildren, Emily, Anna, Claire, Abigail, & Natalie Ostrowski, Cooper, Jordan & Reese McNally. Plus several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, Judith Ann Keen, her parents, two brothers and three sisters.

Funeral Mass: 11:00am Saturday March 26, 2011 at St. Peter Catholic Church. Rev Robert Letona officiating. Burial will follow in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation on Friday from

4:00pm to 8:00pm in the St. Faustina Room at St. Peter Church and again on Saturday from 10:00am until time of service in the St. Faustina room at the church. St. Peter Rosary Society along with the Knights of Columbus of which her son Robert is a member will combine to pray the rosary at 7:00pm Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials in her name will be established at a later date. Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home Stevens Point is assisting the family.
