Joseph A. Sadogierski

Joseph A. Sadogierski 80, of Stevens Point, WI passed away peacefully with family by his side on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Ministry St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield.

Joe was born on September 1, 1930 in Chicago, IL, son of the late John and Sophie (Guzel) Sadogierski. He attended St. Peter's Grade School and PJ Jacobs High School, and then worked in Racine at J.I. Case, Company before entering the U.S. Navy in 1951. He served his country as a navigator on submarine chasers, spending 46 of 48 months at sea. He received the National Defense Service Ribbon, Navy Occupation Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1955.

He began working for the Soo Line railroad in 1956 and worked as a switchman, brakeman and conductor until his retirement in 1988. Joe was a tinkerer, and put many of his Navy and railroading skills to practical use. He could build or fix just about anything he wanted.

On August 12, 1961, Joe married Lois Draeger in Watertown, WI. They lived in Waupaca before moving back to Stevens Point, where they built a house on McDill Pond. Joe Thoroughly enjoyed living on ‘the pond', especially fishing and boating with family and friends. Joe's warmth, humor and generous spirit will be missed by his family and many friends.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Lois; Three daughters; Kristin (Jim) Kwak of Warrington, PA, Karin (John) Exo of Portage, WI and Kelly (Lt. Col. David) Lee of Seoul, South Korea.

Six Grandchildren; Brandon & Elizabeth Kwak, Garrett & Evan Exo and Lauren & Kaitlyn Lee.

Preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bernard & Henry; two sisters Rose Singer-Slusarski and Lillian Tepp, and one infant brother, John Jr.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at St. Michael's hospital emergency room, the Critical care unit and the Palliative care unit at St. Joseph hospital for their warm compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers memorials to St. Joseph Church, St. Joseph Palliative care or a memorial of your choice would be appreciated.

A Memorial Mass will be at 11:00 am Friday at St. Joseph Catholic church in Stevens Point. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until the time of services Friday morning at the Church. Rev. Jerzy Rebacz will officiate. Pisarski/Dzikoski funeral home assisted the family with arrangements.
