Sheboygan resort sold for $4 million

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Great Wolf Resorts has sold the Blue Harbor Resort in Sheboygan for about $4 million.

Claremont Cos., of Bridgewater, Mass., and New Frontiers Capital, of Auburn Hills, Mich., formed a joint venture to purchase the 182-room resort on the shores of Lake Michigan.

The Madison-based waterpark development company says Blue Harbor has not produced the revenue it expected since it opened in 2004. It was built in a new tourism district that has not drawn other attractions. The new owners plan to renovate the resort lobby, its rooms and some outdoor areas.

Blue Harbor includes a conference center which is owned by the city of Sheboygan. The Sheboygan Press says Great Wolf will pay the city $2.5 million to settle its promise to pay room tax revenue through 2028 and property taxes through 2018.
