LINCOLN COUNTY (WAOW)--Scammers continue their relentless barrage of phone calls in their quest to get personal information.
The Lincoln County Sheriff's Department reports that several scam artists called Lincoln County residents over the past week. According to a press release, a Tomahawk woman says someone called her numerous times, saying they were attempting to collect on an unpaid debt. However it turned out to be scammers looking for personal information.
Meanwhile, last Thursday morning a Town of Corning man says someone called him saying he won $25 million in the Spanish lottery.
A Gleason man reported that a caller saying he was from a cash advance company said he needed the man's bank account numbers so the loan could be deposited into his account. The man says he never took out a loan with the cash advance company.
If you get a phone call or email from someone asking for personal information over the phone, don't give it out. If you think you've been targeted, call your financial institution and the authorities.
