Harvey J. Alfheim, Wittenberg, age 82, died Friday, March 25, 2011 at his home. He was born April 5, 1928 in Wittenberg, the son of the late Hans and Cora (Matson) Alfheim. On June 12, 1954, Harvey was united in marriage to Beverly Kersten in Illinois. She preceded him in death on January 2, 2009.
Harvey was a US Army Veteran and was a member of the Bloecher-Johnson American Legion Post #502. He was employed at Homme Home for Boys for many years until his retirement. Harvey was an avid fisherman and enjoyed watching baseball, hunting and trapping.
Survivors include his children; Wendy (Howard) Graves, Eland, Kristi (Dave) Frigen, Wittenberg and Jon (Kristin) Alfheim, Green Bay, six grandchildren; Jason (Heidi), Leah (Avery), Chelsea, Chase, Kailey and Cassandra, two brothers; Glenn (Beverly) Alfheim, Wittenberg and Gerald (Alice) Alfheim, Gresham. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one brother; Monroe and three sisters; Helen Reinke, Hazel Wendler and Barbara Burke.
The Funeral service will be held at 11 am, Monday, March 28, 2011 at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg. Rev. Clifford Kessen will officiate. Interment will be in Bethany Cemetery, Wittenberg with military rites conducted by the American Legion. Visitation will be held on Monday from 9am until the time of service at the funeral home.
