Wis. Dems top 2010 fundraising total in 2 months

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The Democratic Party of Wisconsin has raised more cash in the last two months than it did in all of 2010.

The party filed a report Monday saying it raised $1.1 million in contributions from February 1 to March 21. That's about $250,000 more than it raised last year.

The report also says the party has transferred more than $300,000 to other committees in the last two months.

The Democrats have been fundraising aggressively in the last month to support an effort to recall eight Republican state senators. The senators are being targeted for their votes in support of the so-called budget repair bill, which strips most public employees of collective bargaining rights.

The Republican Party of Wisconsin has not yet filed its spring pre-election campaign finance report.
