WAUSAU (WAOW)--With the tax deadline quickly  approaching many people are look for ways to get their taxes done.

There is a program underway in our area to help people who need help preparing their returns. It's called Tax-Aide and its free. It's aimed at helping middle to low income taxpayers with special attention given to those who are 60 and older.

Certified  AARP volunteers help about 1,500 Marathon County residents fill out their tax forms each year.

The local coordinator of the program in Wausau is Bill Neyens. He says you should make an appointment if you want help. The program is available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the Marathon COunty UW-Extension. You will find it in room 1 at 212 River Drive.

To make an appointment call the United Way of Marathon County at 211. If you are outside Marathon County you are asked to dial 715-848-2255.
