LA CROSSE, Wis. (AP) -- City Brewing Co. is buying a former Coors brewery in Memphis, Tenn., for $30 million.
The La Crosse brewer says it has signed an agreement to buy the Hardy Bottling Co. plant, contingent on tax breaks from the Memphis-Shelby County Industrial Development Board. The manager of the former Coors brewery, Carolyn Hardy, and other investors bought the plant in 2006, shut down the brewing operation and bottled nonalcoholic beverages.
It will be the third brewery for City Brewing, which also has facilities in La Crosse and Latrobe, Pa.
City Brewing executive Connie Michaels tells the La Crosse Tribune that buying the Memphis brewery won't affect plans to expand production in La Crosse.
