David R. Hintz, 68, of 5497 Jordan Road Stevens Point, died Tuesday March 29, 2011 at his home after a six year battle with cancer. David was under the loving care of his wife and Asera Care Hospice for 2 ½ months.
Born; May 24, 1942 in the town of Dewey. Son of the late Julius & Mary (Rucinski) Hintz. He attended local schools. He married Linda Hoppa, she passed away in 1983.
He then married Linda Schultz-Sobish she survives.
David was a Vietnam Veteran serving his country honorably. David died on Vietnam Veterans Day. He entered the service on April 21, 1964 in Milwaukee. He was a specialist 4th class in the Army. He was honorably discharged on April 17, 1966 in Oakland California.
David was a member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans Pope John Paul II Post #185 Polonia, where he served on the Color Guard for the P.L.A.V. He was a member of the Moose Family Center #1572.
He worked for Unit Drop Forge in Milwaukee until retiring in 1995 and then worked part time moving furniture and scrapping steel.
David was most proud of being a color Guard for P.L.A.V. and serving in the Army. David loved going to the Casino, playing smear at family parties, going out to eat with family and friends. David had a kind and giving heart always there to help any one in need.
Survivors include his wife, Linda of Stevens Point. Children, David S. Hintz of Rosholt, Scott R. Hintz of Milwaukee, & Sherry (Jordan) Amundson of Stevens Point. Grandchildren, David (DJ), Lindsay, Devin and James Hintz. Step Children, Holly (Greg) Singer of Stevens Point, Zach & Cory at home. Step Grandchildren, Cory, Felica, and Spencer Singer. David is also survived by two brothers, Leonard (Adeline) Hintz and John (Genny) Hintz of Stevens Point.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Hintz, Jerome (Harry) Hintz and one sister Regina (Jean) Sekerka. Granddaughter Ashley Hintz.
Funeral Mass; 10:00am Saturday April 2, 2011at St. Mary's Catholic Church Torun. Rev Wesley Janowski officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation on Friday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home Stevens Point and again on Saturday from 9:00am until time of service at the church. Parish rosary will be prayed at 5:15pm Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials in his name will be established at a later date.
