STEVENS POINT (WAOW) -- The Post Office considers stopping the delivery of some mail on Saturdays.

A spokesperson for the Post Office says they lost $8.5 billion last year. They also lost $1 billion this past February.

The Post Office says it's looking at eliminating Saturday, because they receive the lowest volume of mail that day.

Some think they should consider dropping a day in the middle of the week.

"On Saturday many people are able to do their errands and get to the post office, mail packages and pick up certified letters," Portage County Resident Kathleen McGinnis said.

A spokesperson says the post office will save about $3 billion the first year by not delivering mail on Saturday.
